No matter where you are, you will encounter people with opposing viewpoints, especially about politics. Join us for an interactive program to develop skills for participating in civil discourse.
Do you avoid talking about politics, societal problems, or controversial ideas? Do you fear others will disagree with you or that you will be upset by their ideas? Does the Thanksgiving dinner table feel like a minefield? Are you losing friends because you do not know how to respond to some of their ideas that you strongly disagree with? You are not alone.
This program will provide information on three ways to develop skills and techniques for participating in civil discourse. You will also learn about programs in Johnson County where you can practice these skills through interactions with people who might hold different viewpoints.
This is an interactive evening. After the presentations, there will be opportunities to practice skills and engage in civil civic discourse. All viewpoints are welcome. Presented by Bonnie Pribush, Bob Pribush, and Karen Altergott Roberts.
