Explore the universe by requesting digital images from robotic telescopes. Learn how to enhance and visualize those images. Create stunning astrophotography. Registration required.
The STEAM Zone has been chosen to host a Harvard-Smithsonian Youth Astronomy Network (YouthAstroNet) program. Participants will become astronomerphotographers, capturing digital pictures of objects in outer space using robotic telescopes controlled over the Internet. Hands-on activities to investigate questions about space as well as the technologies that operate the robotic telescopes will also be used. Access to scientist mentors from the Center for Astrophysics will be available so participants can learn about various STEAM career opportunities that exist in this area. Participants will use their interests and creativity to present their favorite view of the universe through their own capstone projects. Bring a drink and some snacks, relax, and spend afternoons exploring the universe! Designed for grades 5-9. Registration for the entire week is required. Include email for program communication.
