TRB Community Room (Whole Room)Learn about local historian, educator and storyteller Marian Callon and how she continues to impact our community.
Dan Callon will discuss who Marian Callon was, the world in which she grew up, and how she continues to impact her community and those who knew her.
Marian Callon’s legacy includes the numerous students she impacted as an educator, her stories of life growing up around Trafalgar and in Johnson County in the 1930s and 1940s, her descriptions of family and local history in the decades before she was born, and the funds she endowed that are still benefitting her family and the local community today.
Marian was an astute observer, listening intently and noticing details that others might miss. She could usually be found behind the scenes, helping out in a variety of roles, doing whatever needed to be done. Yet she was also a sharp business woman and a world traveler, willing to venture out and try new experiences. She embodied life-long learning, acquiring numerous skills as an adult just because she wanted to.
