1966 Michigan Swamp Gas UFO Case
Saturday, November 14
1:00pm - 3:30pm
Franklin Branch
FRB Community Room (Whole Room)UFO Researcher Raymond Szymanski will be joining the Indiana chapter of MUFON to discuss his book, "Swamp Gas My Ass". A question and answer session will follow at the end of the presentation.
In March 1966, flying saucers were reported by hundreds of reliable witnesses across southeastern Michigan, including dozens of law enforcement officers. The United States Government attempted to explain these sightings as spontaneously combusting ‘swamp gas’ produced by rotting vegetation. In this presentation, based on years of research, Swamp Gas My Ass author Raymond Szymanski presents compelling evidence of flying saucers landing near, hiding from, and buzzing local residents. The evidence includes video testimony from the Air Force fighter pilot who intercepted one of these objects and from several witnesses who recently broke decades of silence. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the events that prompted the only Congressional UFO investigation in over 50 years.
Award winning author, researcher, and lecturer, Raymond Szymanski, had an outstanding forty-year engineering career at the fabled Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB). He is the acknowledged expert on WPAFB and its alien connections. In his first book, Fifty Shades of Greys: Evidence of Extraterrestrial Visitation to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Beyond, Raymond reveals compelling photographic evidence and research that supports long-held rumors of Wright-Patterson’s alien involvement. His 2nd book, Victoria’s Secret Truth, presents an in-depth, convincing, two-year case study for Close Encounters of the 7th Kind that crosses multiple generations of the same family. His most recent book, Swamp Gas My Ass (SGMA), reveals the true exploits of two American heroes who intercepted the famous 1966 Michigan ‘Swamp Gas’ UFO, an interplanetary visitor that government officials tried to explain away as “marsh gas”. This book was featured in The Science Channel series, Mission Unexplained, which aired in June 2023, and has aired on several other prominent cable channels.
Raymond has appeared on the History Channel’s Ancient Aliens series; The Discovery Channel’s Expedition X Premier Episode (where host, Josh Gates referred to Ray as “my Wright-Patt guy”); Science Channel’s Mission Unexplained; and Coast to Coast AM with George Knapp among hundreds of other radio, tv, and podcasts appearances. He has been quoted and amusingly misquoted in every major United Kingdom tabloid including The Sun, The Express, and The Daily Mail.
